TODAY, the 192nd anniversary of the opening of the Stockton and Darlington railway is being commemorated with a Railway Market from 10am to 4pm in Stockton High Street. The event is organised by the Friends of the Stockton & Darlington Railway in conjunction with Stockton council, and there should be something for everyone. As well as exhibitions of railway memorabilia and model railways in the town centre marquee, there are free land train rides and children’s activities and there’s even a real ale rail trail, put together by Camra, around the pubs. Plus the truly curious Stockton Flyer is putting on its show every hour.
